Description:

Ensure that you carry safe drinking water and stick to eating home-made food. The city has reported 34 cases of cholera, said Mysore City Corporation officials on Wednesday. The Epidemic Hospital is treating the patients. Health officer Dr Nagaraj said cases have been reported from Metagalli, Kumbarakoppal to Kuvempunagar to Gangotri Layout. He attributed the outbreak of cholera to the poor quality of water supplied in hotels. “Though we have given a checklist to hoteliers on treating water before serving it to the customers, many hotels are not following the rules. We will penalise them severely,” he said. City hospitals, including KR Hospital, have been advised to streamline treatment procedures. District in-charge minister SA Ramdas said: “We have enforced severe restrictions on sale of food from cart vendors, juice stalls and sweetmeat shops. They will have to keep their premises free of houseflies.” The district health department has also sent a public advisory to residents to drink treated and boiled water and cover their food.
