A Toowoomba school has issued an alert to its students after a case of chickenpox was confirmed today. Toowoomba State High School said the viral and highly contagious illness had been confirmed and any sick students must stay home for five days after a rash associated with the condition appeared. Chickenpox is infectious for two days before the rash appeared until all blisters had "formed scabs or crusts".
